Haddo Estate

Tolquhon Castle

Located to the south of the Estate, Tolquhon is a ruined castle that is popularly regarded as being one of the most picturesque historic houses in the North East. While it is still technically in the ownership of the Gordon family, who acquired it in the eighteenth century, it is under the stewardship of Historic Scotland. The castle was begun in the fifteenth century by the Forbes family, but was for the most part completed in the sixteenth century.

The Tolquhon Gallery next to the castle is an award-winning gallery that showcases the work of contemporary Scottish artists, hosting regular exhibitions and events.
